The Blue Economy: What Is It, What Is the Importance to Maine & How Is UMaine Involved?

Join us for this special event to hear from government, business, and industry partners, and members of the UMaine MARINE community to discuss and define the Blue Economy in the state of Maine.

  • What is the Blue Economy for Maine and beyond?
  • How does UMaine contribute to the Blue Economy?
  • How can UMaine contribute in the future?

During the event, UMaine President Joan Ferrini-Mundy will provide remarks.

The panel consists of stakeholders in the state, including state officials, business people, and community leaders. Heather Johnson, commissioner of the Maine Department of Economic Community Development is among the panel of stakeholders. Johnson is dedicated to fostering economic development, both in private companies and in rural communities across Maine. Joining her on the panel is Curt Brown of Ready Seafood, Alex de Koning of Hollander and de Koning, and Kate Dempsey of The Nature Conservancy in Maine.
